Why TOS

We don’t just play – We perform

We believe in good musicians, and we believe in showing them to the world.  At Theater of Sound, students are groomed to be performers through classes specifically tailored to individuals and their instruments.  Our aim is to take students beyond the assessment of conventional exams and to prepare them for the more exciting – and infinitely more rewarding – evaluation of the live audience.

Each of our teachers has extensive experience in the music industry, many are professional performers and all are well-qualified to facilitate the move from player to performer.

We realize the value of real-world exposure

It’s hard to be something if you don’t know what it looks like.  At Theater of Sound, we support our emphasis on performance skills with field trips, providing students with critical exposure at live events such as music festivals, musicals and concerts.  Students have the opportunity to travel to both local and international venues in order to experience first-hand the realities of performance and all that it entails.

Theater of Sound also organizes frequent events that provide students with the chance to apply what they have learnt in a real-life environment, giving them hands-on experience that will help shape their future in music.

Our students matter to us

Effective teaching – and learning – only comes with attention, and we pay attention.  Individual progress is carefully monitored to ensure that classes proceed according to what’s best for the student.  We’re not interested in rubber-stamping; we’re interested in diversity.  After all, variety is the spice of life: every student develops along different lines, and the multiplicity that arises is what makes the music industry so great.

Networking opportunities

It’s not just about what you do, it’s about whom you know.  At Theater of Sound, the network potential is endless.  Hook up with peers and form links with other bands and musicians.  Meet people who know people, and get to know them yourself. According to the theory of six degrees of separation, every person in the world is a maximum of six steps away by way of introduction from any other person – at Theater of Sound, we’d like to bypass a few.

Facilities

Theater of Sound comes equipped with its own jamming studio, complete with drums, keyboard, microphones and sound system.  Neighbors complaining about the noise level?  Come on over!  Bring your band, or spend some time practising on your own.

We also have a recording studio available for scheduled recording sessions – add to your experience in the music industry by producing your very own album.

We know money trees are hard to grow in this climate

In the words of Downhere, “Rock stars need money; we can’t live on bologna sandwiches.”  Dollars can stretch, but not that far.  In lieu of sandwiches, Theater of Sound offers value deals that let the dollar get off the rack.  The more the merrier:

  • sign up with family members and save with our family package.  Don’t stop at siblings, either; who says Mom can’t rock a bass?
  • Or check out our friends deal: for every friend you’ve introduced who registers with Theater of Sound, you get one month’s free tuition for the course of your choice.

Don’t hesitate to contact us for further information.
